Kim is back!

KIM yawns, stretches… what time is it? June?? OK, we’ve slumbered through some months, had a beautiful dream trip to Leipzig for an amazing meeting of the KLAENG Kollektiv Köln und Jazzkollektiv Leipzig at the Kubique Festival, and now find ourselves on the verge of the summer again. Time to shake away dew of sleep and make our return: TWO CONCERTS this month to launch the series anew! Johanna Weckesser, one of our new members, starts things off at Mainzer 7 on 10 June, then Simon Kanzler spearheads our foray to a (possible) new home at Rotbart on 16 June, a new venue just down the street from our beloved Salon Tippel in Neukölln.

Check the shows section for details! Come out and hear what’s new!

the last month (for now)!

Thank you to everyone who made KIMfest a success last month! Such positive momentum for us as we proudly tackle the KIMfuture…

Our Kim Classic series has come to an end and we are currently seeking new stomping grounds, but expect more from us soon!

We are excited to announce the line up for our very first KIM festival in November!

Some of our favorite Berlin and New York based talents will be gracing the stage, including Jim Black and Chris Speed, Matt Moran, John Hollenbeck, and more! 3 days of ecstatic soundings and musical re-energization. Please check the festival section for more information, or come to one of our upcoming shows and get special price tickets.

Hey there!

Finally, we published the new shows in February on the shows-page.
Because we take care of neighbors, concerts start at 8.30pm!
Also, here is a nice line from German music-journalist Wolf Kampmann:

„Hingehen lohnt sich, denn da ist etwas im Entstehen, das den deutschen und europäischen Jazz noch über Jahrzehnte prägen wird.“ – Wolf Kampmann, Jazzthing

In English this may be:
„Going there is worth it, because there is rising something that will characterize the German and European Jazz for decades.“ – Wolf Kampmann, Jazzthing

Love <3,

Kim has had a great run in the past couple of months, featuring our own musician members as well as our first-ever collaboration with dancers (by way of the artistry of Lisa Gaden).

This month we are proud to present a special concert from world class tenor saxophonist Tony Malaby, who will be performing with his Tubacello quartet from NYC. [Dan Peck on Tuba, Christopher Hoffman on cello, John Hollenbeck on drums] This is a rare chance to see this extraordinary constellation of musicians in Berlin – and at our very own Salon Tippel.
